Our Story
St. Olave’s church was consecrated on 17th November 1894. Looking at the programme of services on the occasion leaves one thinks that by the end everybody involved would be prostrate with exhaustion.
We are a congregation of men and women; boys and girls who are trying to live for God in a world that has largely chosen to ignore Him.
We believe that it is God’s world and that He has given the answer to all human problems in Jesus Christ.
As a body of believers, we offer to all who come regular opportunities for worship and service that point the way to God as our strongest resources in all aspects of life.

Who we are
St Olave’s is a member of the Finsbury Park Ecumenical group of churches that includes the Roman Catholic Church, the URC, the Methodist Church and other Anglican Churches.
When the time came to plan the celebrations for the centenary in 1994 a committee of the PCC, chaired by David Coster’s cousin Richard Griffiths, worked on a similar, though more varied, marathon of events.
There were three memorable Eucharists on the Sundays before and after the anniversary and on the day itself, these were celebrated by Richard Chartes, then bishop of Stepney and now of London, David Hope, then bishop of London and now Archbishop of York, and Clive Young, then archdeacon of Hackney and now bishop of Dunwich.
The service on Thursday, 17th November was attended by clergy from the Deanery and from other neighbouring congregations.
