Our core pastoral services include Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals.

WEDDINGS

Marriage in the Church of England is one of the Pastoral services we undertake and it is a way to provide company on your journey and to reveal the love of Christ.

In order to qualify for your marriage to take place at St Olave’s, you must reside in the parish or attend church regularly and be registered on the electoral roll of the church or have a historical link with the Church.
Your marriage can happen between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm, Mondays – Saturdays, and date/time will be agreed with the couple.

BAPTISMS

Baptism for babies and children takes place in a service often called a Christening. In this service parents thank God for his gift of life, make a decision to start their child on a journey of faith and godparents promise help and support. The church also promises to welcome the child and to pray for the family.

For your child, being baptized at a Christening marks the start of a lifelong journey of faith as part of the local and worldwide Christian family.

FUNERALS

A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping. Whether small or large, funerals are special ceremonies.

Everyone is entitled to either a burial service (funeral) or to have their ashes buried in their local parish churchyard by their local parish priest regardless of whether they attended church or not.
