BAPTISM OF JESUS – 12TH JANUARY 2020
SPIRIT of the living God, fall afresh on us (2ce); Melt us, mould us, fill us, use us; spirit of the living God fall afresh on us
GOD forgave my sin in Jesus name; I’ve been born again in Jesus name; and in Jesus name I come to you; to share His love as He told me to; He said freely, freely , you have received; freely, freely give.
When the Lord had been baptized, the heavens opened, and the Spirit came down like a dove to rest on him. Then the voice of the Father thundered: This is my beloved Son, with him I am pleased.
My friends who are here and those watching and following us on face book, I welcome you in the name of Jesus. Thank you and I appreciate your effort and do not in any way take it for granted. May the Lord recognise you more, appreciate you more, favour you more and bless you more, in the name of Jesus.
Today we are celebrating the BAPTISM OF THE LORD. In baptism we are made children of the Father and heirs to eternal life; we are made disciples and witnesses of God before the world; and we are made members of the Christian Community dedicated to preaching and living the Gospel.
The Father anointed His beloved Son, Jesus, with the Holy Spirit and with power, to bring healing and peace to all the nations.
I pray that the Lord will help us to be faithful to our baptism and follow His path of service to humanity. May our lives bear witness to the faith we professed at our baptism.
So, let us enjoy this time together.
Before: a profession of faith ia an essential part of the rite of Baptism
After: Say after me – As we say when celebrating Baptism; “This is our faith. This is the faith of the church. We are proud to profess it, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Lord shall give to you, His people the blessing of peace.
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
THE LORD’D PRAYER
This is one faith, one baptism, and one God who is Father of all. In fellowship with all the baptised, let us pray to our heavenly Father in the words our Saviour gave us on page 16 in our service booklet;
May you go on growing in the knowledge and love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
May the Lord confirm your hearts in holiness so that you may be blameless in His sight. Amen
May you remain firm in the hope we profess because the One who made the promise is faithful. Amen
The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always.
